3-10-26 THOUGHTS
Verse 4 in our reading jumps off the page and out of history... “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,”! In verse 5, “the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,” reminds me of Acts 2:38b “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” This was Peter’s answer to the question, “what shall we do?” Col 2:12 “having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.” Verse 7 closes us with
“so that being justified by His grace...” The whole plan and discussion comes from God!
Titus 2:3-7 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Our Prayer:
Thank You, Father, that You have saved us in Christ Jesus. You washed us in Christ’s blood and poured out Your Spirit upon us. We are bankrupt to repay, O God, help us to simply and humbly respond with powerful willingness and submission in love! We desire to be Yours forever. Thank You for wonderful living HOPE! We pray in Jesus, Amen.
